SOUPER BOWL OF CARING

Our Signature Annual Event

Each year thousands of individuals and groups from all fifty states participate in Souper Bowl of Caring donation fundraisers for their local food charity of choice. Since 1990, over 300,000 groups have participated to support local food programs in their community.

In 1990, a simple prayer: "Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat" was delivered to a small youth group at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. This gave birth to an idea. Why not harness the energy and enthusiasm of Super Bowl weekend, a time when people come together for football, food and fun, to unite the nation for a higher good? Individuals and groups collect dollars in soup pots and canned food for those in need and send every dollar and food donation directly to a local charity of their choice.

What if everyone watching the BIG GAME gave just $1 to hunger relief in their community? That would be over 330 million meals from just ONE event!

TACKLE HUNGER CHALLENGE

What if we challenged everyone to give just 1?

What if everyone watching any game gave just one can or one dollar to help those who are food insecure in your community? Join our friends at the NFL Alumni to tackle student hunger!

Tackle Hunger, the Home of the Souper Bowl of Caring, asks school groups, college students, and anyone with a heart for kids to use the Tackle Hunger Challenge to support food charities, especially those that are feeding our students in K-12 schools and colleges.

Our Tackle Hunger Challenge campaign can be used to support the needs of a school's food pantry, a school's athletic department, or a local food charity that is helping your families in need.

VOLUNTEER AS A TACKLE HUNGER AMBASSADOR

What if you can tackle hunger and change the game for those in need?

The Tackle Hunger Ambassador program brings out the true spirit of our traditional Youth Advisory Board program and broadens its reach to include anyone who wants to help us make sure all food charities have their needs met so food charities can take care of people. You don't have to have lots of time or any particular skills, just interest and love for helping others. Our program is like no other because when you help recruit new groups to tackle hunger. When you put food charities on our Tackle Hunger Map, you are helping those food charities do their work better to take care of people in communities across the nation.
